History

Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant is the original home of Amos Stoltzfus, the father of the current operators. Amos moved here along with his brothers and sisters in 1929. Their Grandfather, Abram, bought the farm right in the middle of the great depression. With a family of twelve, it made for some difficult years.

Amish folks worship today, as they did in the days past, in each other's homes. When you visit with us, if you look at the original part of the farmhouse, behind the front desk you will see a set of folding doors. These doors would be folded back in order to accommodate the church service. The preacher would stand in the corner so that all areas of the room could hear him.

Amos, along with his seven brothers, slept in the room above the kitchen. It was said that when Grandpa hollered up the stairs for the boys to come down and help milk the cows, they wouldn't want to make him holler a third time.

In 1968, Amos and his wife Mary, started serving meals in the farmhouse. They operated the Restaurant until 1989 when Amos and Mary's children took over the day to day operation.
